By now there’s evidence that the year ahead will not be extraordinary. While it’s still early, won’t the data eventually prove that our vision for achievement was a hoax? What will be the date on the calendar when you stop believing you can succeed?

Turn away from the nonsense. Often, those who have the greatest fear take comfort in lies.

Of course, it changes everything when we choose to sustain our belief in possibilities. (What changes for your team?) In our pursuit of 2014 goals, imperfection must not be fodder for  excuses or complacency. Resist the temptation to rationalize behavior that’s not reflective of who we know we can be. Who we will be.

Seize responsibility. Make the choice. Shed contentment.

Nelson Mandela said it best: “There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

There is already ample evidence that your team will play big and do extraordinary things in 2014.
