team work, one teamNo achievement worth bragging about is accomplished alone. Yet, despite that wisdom, organizations create thinking (and therefore, actions) that conflict with a requisite of success: Together we are exponentially stronger than an employee acting alone.

The concept of “individual-contributor” challenges organizations, it can be covert and coded language for “I’m only responsible for myself.” This idea depresses our potential, our future.

No one contributes in isolation, however. The idea that we are not accountable to others is a myth. Even the software designer, clad in pajamas, is connected to something bigger than him – or herself. The customer expects the moving parts to work as one.

Everything, everyone, is connected. We are, in fact, ONE Team.
