The power of your truth is undeniable. The thing is: so is the power of everyone else’s truth.
Despite what ego-based leaders attempt to sell us, the degree to which we are unified predicts what we’ll achieve. This wisdom hasn’t changed in thousands of years – nor will it anytime soon.
What separates us lies only in our thinking. When members of the team get their “news” from different sources, which are delivered in ways to validate and reinforce our chosen beliefs, it means that one event can happen . . . while two (or more) realities are created. No amount of debating will prove the other person wrong – because both people are correct.
A team can only succeed when the members of that team operate in the same reality. Therefore, teams that do big things are made of people who:
– bring the spirit of discovery to every conversation
– infuse transparency into their discussions
– hold fast to the understanding that individually they are both right and wrong in their – interpretations of reality
– leverage the diversity in their collective thinking
– model the wisdom that a unified team always beats those that are fractured
Determine your team’s reality with care: If a truth is not shared the future won’t be either.
