It’s scary discovering one day that the actions you’ve taken most of your life to get the results you want no longer work. Suddenly, you’re exposed: Your team (your family) is vulnerable.

Finding footing during periods of uncertainty and volatility is difficult: The ground beneath our feet shifts and shakes. Will we find our way? Or be another statistic people read about?

While some people ponder such questions, those that will succeed tomorrow have already stepped forward…because they know the definition of discipline:

  • The desire to want to do,
  • what they need to do,
  • to do more of
  • what they like to do.

The disciplined collaborative leader doesn’t see difficult circumstances, actions or decisions as problematic. Instead, they see today – with the challenges that must be addressed – as the step they’ve been seeking to take their teams where they want to go.

Demonstrating discipline isn’t easy – which is why it’s so valuable.

What do you need to do? (Want to do it.)

P.S. Demonstrating the discipline of creating resilient teams is a priority right now. I’m fired up about the discussion we’ll be having with Jeff Hayes, CEO of The Myers-Briggs Company, in our live Collaborative Leader’s Huddle, this Thursday at 8 a.m. Rocky Mtn Time.
