“Can you see the day when we score 100% on our employee survey scores?” this leader enthusiastically asked me. “People will wake up in the morning with their heart pounding and thinking ‘I’ve got to take a shorter shower! I can’t wait to get to work.”
How many people on your team take short showers?
The survey score that currently matters most to the leader above? Trust in leadership. It’s a brilliant predictor of productivity. Of course, it starts with the leader using every interaction to earn our trust. Those teams who sustain excellence, however, take the extraordinary step of assisting their leader in trusting them.
Who goes first – do we trust them or do they have to trust us?
High-performing teams trust themselves. And they take shorter showers.
I have been working with different projects and teams and I could said “We have to trust each other” “We should support each other Leader-Team Team-Leader” to finally, awake up every morning and really enjoy the day by day in our place to work ( and we all take a shorter showers)
Luis,
Thanks for sharing how your team is trusting each other and how it makes a difference for your projects! Thank you for modeling trust in your leadership!
