Waiting.

Waiting.

It is the end of Q1, 2022. Yet, there are a lot of teams still waiting.

Here are five statements you’ll likely never hear anyone say. Odds are, however, there are people around you operating with these it’s-better-to-wait principles:

  1. We can’t build authentic connections among team members until we meet in person.
  2. I can’t let that toxic employee go. We desperately need their skills.
  3. We’re not going to collaborate with that function until those clowns reach out to us.
  4. It’s better to remain dysfunctional than invest in strengthening ourselves.
  5. We’ll take care of our emotional health after we get through this period of stress.

Hypocrisy and self-deception are unspoken core values within some organizations. Waiting is accepted, even rewarded. Meetings are held to discuss limitations. Risks are reduced so careers can be built.

Yet, one truth remains: The vast majority of limitations we face are self-imposed.

It’s a new quarter. (There are only three left.) What pain or limitation has your team been rationalizing as acceptable? What decision has your team been putting off?

Wait no more.
